Psychedelic 0.2 =============== Psychedelic is a real PSYC client implementation which knows how to communicate with PSYC objects anywhere in PSYCspace, be it people, rooms, answering machines, anything. It is currently the only one that does this much. STATUS This software is ALPHA, a long way from completion. INSTALLATION If you have installed JRE or JDK/1.1 appropriately (see http://java.sun.com for that), you need to define CLASSPATH like this: set CLASSPATH swing.jar:psyc.jar:. You can then launch it from a shell or DOS, using java Psychedelic optionally with your PSYC UNI (see below) appended. On Windoofs you should be able to just doubleclick the file. USAGE The LAVAchat is not running a compatible server version to this client. There's a beta server running at psyc://beta.ve.lava.de You can pick a UNI (uniform network identification) at this server by typing /connect psyc://beta.ve.lava.de/~yourNickname (If your keyboard doesn't accept ~ you can use ^ instead). and set up a password with /set password The new notation psyc://user@beta.ve.lava.de is not supported by jaPSYC yet, I'm working on it.. If you have no password yet, you will see "lynx" as your demo friend in the friend list. As soon as you define your own friends using "/notify " the default lynx will disappear. Should you loose the connection you can re-login with the /connect command. It remembers your last UNI. Theoretically you should be able to chat with people on other servers than yours, not tested though.
